Kindle Scribe Struggling: that pretty much sums up the latest sales numbers. I was curious about how the Kindle Scribe was doing lately, so I decided to check out the latest sales numbers. And honestly… it’s not looking great. In fact, it’s even worse than I expected.
Compared to the rest of the Kindle lineup, the Kindle Scribe barely registers. It’s kind of shocking just how little interest there seems to be in it.
Take a look at the numbers for the basic Kindle, the Kindle Paperwhite, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, and even the Kindle Colorsoft. Each of these models sold well over 10,000 units last month. Sure, certain colors have slightly lower figures (since each color variant is counted separately), but the overall sales are impressive.
But then there’s the new Kindle Scribe. Its sales numbers are almost hard to believe they’re that low. The 16GB and 32GB models sold just 500+ units each in the past month. For Amazon, that’s shockingly low, especially for a device that’s still relatively new.
The 64GB version did a little better, with over 1,000 units sold, making it the best-selling option among the three. I’ve always found that surprising who really needs 64GB of storage on a Kindle? But I guess some people just like the idea of having more space, even if they’ll never use it.
Honestly, the Kindle Scribe wasn’t exactly a hit this time last year either, but this year’s numbers are noticeably worse.

It’s possible that Amazon is tracking the Metallic Jade version separately (since it’s only offered in the 64GB model). If that’s the case, you could add another 1,000+ units to the total. But even then, those numbers are still pretty underwhelming for a company with Amazon’s reach and influence.
At first, I wondered if the older Kindle Scribe model was eating into the new version’s sales. But after checking the numbers, that doesn’t seem to be the case either. Its sales figures aren’t looking great, either.
2022 Kindle Scribe Sales on Feb 14, 2025
- Kindle Scribe 64GB – unavailable
- Kindle Scribe 32GB – 100+ units sold
- Kindle Scribe 16GB basic pen – 500+ units sold
- Kindle Scribe 16GB premium pen – 100+ units sold
When you compare these numbers to the rest of the Kindle lineup, most of which have that “10k+ sold” banner proudly displayed, the Kindle Scribe’s figures are honestly pretty disappointing. It’s hard to imagine this is what Amazon had in mind when they launched their note-taking Kindle.
Perhaps Amazon’s new Kindle Scribe Update with AI features and Active Canvas will help boost sales, but for now, it remains to be seen if consumers will embrace it.
